Galería Enrique Guerrero

Aplausos, confeti, serpentinas y flores

In this precarious territory –part fair, part reliquary- popular traditions and official commemorations are mistakable: monuments become effigies, derailed military parades become metonymic altarpieces and tricolor flags fade off in slow motion. In an anti-celebration of patriotic pride and military and political spectacle, fireworks, little colored papers, balloons and smoke bombs – chauvinist paraphernalia but atavistic- that with their ephemeral character, are the residue of desacralized mythologies that resist disappearing. Beyond ludic, this heterogeneous enclave of the fair-reliquary urges the preservation necessity of social memory and critical collectivity reactivation to demystify the paternalist figure and its commemorative coercion, pursuing new and legit celebrations.

Galería Enrique Guerrero opened in 1997. Over a hundred exhibitions have been carried out in its facilities. It has participated in more than fifty international fairs. Currently it represents a group of young artists who are part of the emerging art scene in Latin America. Despite having an eminently contemporary vocation, it also promotes the work of the great masters of Latin American art.
