Cantos del Cielo y del Infierno
Jesús Lugo

Jesús Lugo was born in Mexico City and studied in La Esmeralda. He obtained recognition in Mexico, the United States and France; He has been awarded with the first prize at the Rufino Tamayo Biennial in 2002. He exhibits in different galleries and museums, among them the Rufino Tamayo Museum and the Museum of Modern Art. Cantos del Cielo y del Infierno was based on the Divine Comedy. “The works of Jesús Lugo are images that make reference to constructions, to fragments of cities, memories, experiences, of lived aspects. The image as an expository medium of what our memory stores: aspects of the everyday, of ourselves in others, literary characters, sensorial descriptions of the day to day. The work of Lugo implies a trip to memory, a trip that at first instance might seem confusing but that, looking more closely, is perfectly structured.”
